Still Watching...
Sampling "The Lazarus Project," starting "Foundation," finishing "Silo" and "Liaison," plus more...
One or more people have told me about “The Lazarus Project” on TNT and, while that’s not normally enough to make me do anything about it — like watching — when embracing the ennui of the lazy days of summer, something else tilted the odds. An app failure.
Back in the Bay and hanging out at my partner’s house, she was psyched that, after me being away in Portland, we could finally finish watching “Silo” on Apple TV+ together. I mean, I’m pretty sure she was also psyched that I had returned after roughly three weeks but “Silo” is a big deal in that she’s read the books and we’re watching it together, only she doesn’t get Apple TV+ (or thought she didn’t; more on that lower). We very rarely break the “we’re watching this together so don’t ever watch it on your own/without me” rule.
So this was a big, exciting moment. Plus, I’m loving the series. It’s one of the relatively few that make me want to watch every episode immediately. So we go to watch, with my login, and…spinning wheel of nothing.
Fast forward through endless attempts to address this but, nope, it doesn't work. So we decide to instead watch “The Lazarus Project” because she also, like certain readers, heard it’s kind of interesting.
We watched the pilot. With those annoying ad breaks. Look, I’m feeling broke AF lately so I’m not going to complain that we had to watch with ads and no ability of fast-forward through them, except that I am: It was torture. How did we all do it ages ago? Honestly, I’d rather not watch something at all, ever, than watch it with ads. I’d rather watch the countless series available to me on the streaming services I pay for.
