"Still Watching...Or Not."
Ripley, Sugar, Shōgun, The Zone Of Interest, The Signal, The Gentleman, 3 Body Problem, Formula 1: Drive To Survive, etc.
I feel like a car stuck in traffic but not long enough to check my texts. Stop, short pause, go, stop, short pause.
And on this I’m talking about starting up shows and then being Meh In the Moment (which is different than just Meh — the former signifies if could be me, not the show; maybe I’m just not in the mood).
If I’m reading the comments correctly, a bunch of you are feeling the same.
Meh In the Moment is a problem because instead of writing off a show, I put some time in, give up and then vow to come back because the blame is probably on me for not being into it. The problem grows when I then start watching a series I like (theoretically — even this might be debatable or just a poor word choice) and then before I can finish what might be the fifth or sixth episode of something I’m moving through slowly, I drop out to check out all the shiny new things, only to feel annoyed about the whole process and bow out.
It’s me, TV, it’s not you.
Well, OK, it’s you a lot of the time, but lately probably me. Might be watching too much — which was why it was important to drop a movie into the mix (“The Zone Of Interest”) as a palate cleanser (however depressingly bleak it was in all of its brilliance).
Anyway, lots of shows to cover and there’s at least one big surprise reveal to come.
