This is a weekly examination of each new “Severance” episode. It contains spoilers, so if you haven’t watched, come back when you have.
Anytime you can say with assurance that “we’ve had a wave of good episodes lately,” well then, yeah, “Severance” is having a good season at the halfway point.
“Trojan’s Horse” may not have had the triptastic elements from the previous week but one can only take so many ORTBO’s, especially if the previous one is “calamitous” and goes down on your permanent record.
But what the episode did give us was more humor, lots of intrigue, a sly, momentous quick-scene of Outie Mark being on the severed floor (in the elevator, heading back up), Helly truly being Helly (and convincingly), Dylan being angry, Ms. Casey showing up to make Mark’s fucked up feelings get even more confusing and yet another glimpse of Miss Huang seeming to be very dangerous.
Maybe the only thing we didn’t get that I truly wanted was for Helly, back on the severed floor for the first time since the OTC and getting her body hijacked by Helena, running into Miss Huang for the first time (“Who the fuck are you?”) and NOT saying, “Why are you a child?”
But that’s just a very small disappointment. Otherwise, as Milchick said, “This went well.”
OK, let’s get to this.
(But before we do, I would like for you to remember that the theremin works best in moderation.)
