I am so bad about commenting in a timely fashion. What happens is I read your posts as soon as I get the notification on my phone (I'm usually still in bed if it's at 8am) as I am always eager to read your latest musings. But because I've never mastered typing on my phone with my thumbs (it's hunt and peck with one finger for me) I don't comment right away even though I'm bursting with ideas. I have to wait until I'm on my (lame, old, slow) computer to write and sometimes it slips my mind or my computer makes it too frustrating. So here I am commenting long after the hot topic has cooled. Anyway, Just wanted to say "Johnny Come Home" has been playing in my brain for a while now, I don't think I had ever seen the video and a fine one it is. I forgot how much I liked The Fine Young Cannibals. The Backyardigans was a favorite of my granddaughters too and I have fond memories of watching that and some other lovely kids show with them when they would come to visit me at my ranch. Visual Xanax indeed! I'm glad the heavy lifting of your move(s) is over and hope you get and feel settled soon. Love to Pepper, I hope he feels at home again soon. Ok, now I'm off to find some other posts of yours that I need to comment on. LOL

What an original couch! And Pepper will definitely get there.

I saw that Shōgun is available on Disney+ here, but I don’t have it, but I will consider a few months in the future, to catch up on a few things.

I LOVED “All of us strangers”, such a heartwrenching film on solitude. I didn’t know anything about it, I was just expecting a love story of some kind. What a wonderful dreamlike experience.

A note of your subtitle, for years my main computer has been named "Deus Ex Machina" similar, yet more divine concept...

Congratulations on finishing the moves (minus unpacking)!

I voted Death by Knife as the worst, not just because of the associated pain, but also due to the up-close nature of the death, which seems worse somehow than being shot from across the room. A stabbing is PERSONAL.

I must admit that I, too, have too many jackets. My sister constantly pokes fun at me over this. I have a trip to London in a few days and WILL NOT be buying a new jacket. Hmmm, it's cold over there ...

Good luck with completion of your multi moves. Not fun. I was stunned by All of Us Strangers, very moving, the power of the film deriving from the excellent script and the immersive acting performances. Over the last two days watched two completely different films, the oblique, cryptic but horrifying adaptation of Martin Amis’s very literary novel The Zone of Interest; and Dune: Part 2, a flawless sci-fi extravaganza with a lock-step plot (but would someone not a Dune book fan enjoy it?).

Ahhhhh, Fine Young Cannibals, one of my all time favorite cover bands (after Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, of course)...

All of Us Strangers looks very interesting, that's going into the virtual nightstand stack.

Janice Burgess is long past my time of watching Kid TV but she sounds like she was a talented and great lady. It definitely feels like she touched many people and made their lives better.

'Mysterious Suburban Cul-de-Sac of Joy" is awesome. I'd bring you bread, salt and wine (trad Italian new welcome thingie) if I could bring myself to brave the trackless wastes of the Far East (Bay)!

Setting up a new desk/work station/area, always sucks but you should look at this as an opportunity to make it even better than it was before. I recently completely upgraded all of my computer stuff, which was daunting as hell, but it gave me a chance to re-think what would really make my hours at the desk better (cable management, my son, cable management). After years of it being "good enough" my desk is now great and condusive to really getting shit done and all the stacks of paper are gone, it looks great (which matters, at least to the designer that has to sit there), ergonomically massively improved and I'm finally honoring the gorgeous antique Arts & Crafts desk that I've always loved but never used very well. So, put on your thinking cap, stare at it for a while and think about what you really want it to be — it'll be absolutely worth it...

Moving is the worst ... and moving during the Noachian Deluge of this wet winter is nobody's idea of fun. But -- like Covid, any sort of surgery, visits to the dentists, tax-prep, and every goddamned presidential election from now 'til the waters rise and forests burn hot enough to snuff out civilization as we know it -- things improve, albeit with great deliberation, once it's over. So now that you've reached that far shore, relax and await the endorphin rush.

As for modes of death -- hell, just shoot me. Any decent-sized caliber pistol or rifle will do so much damage that shock sets in very quickly, and in that state of shock there's very little if any pain. Arrows and knives? Fu-huck no! Pain and endless bleeding while waiting for the sweet release of death ... no thanks.

That said, I have much less tolerance for extreme bloody cinematic violence these days -- and whether that's due to advancing age and an increasing sense of vulnerability or simply a growing distaste for watching human beings behave so badly towards each other, I don't know. An appropriate level of violence in service of the plot I can handle -- as in the recent season of "Fargo" -- but when it becomes a slash-and-gorefest, I'm out. Near as I can tell this began for me with a then-season premiere of "Walking Dead" when the latest Bad Guy du Jour kicked off the festivities by beating two of the cast regulars to death with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire ... and I thought "Why the fuck am I watching this?" Since I couldn't come up with a good answer to that question, I turned it off and never went back.

Anyway ... congrats on completing the Death March of Moving. Enjoy the new digs as you settle in, and remember -- spring is coming.

Toby wants Pepper to know that it will be OK. There are squirrels everywhere and he's sure that they're absolutely delicious — and the Sausage is absolutely sure that Pepper will get the next one!

My son is a little older than your kids so Barney was his show of choice early on. Ugh. Then my wife put on the original Star Wars Trilogy, Toy Story came out, and we were saved.

Guns are clearly the worst way to go because, despite John Wick, there's such a lack of skill and artistry in general. Have you ever shot a bow? That's hard. Same with knives, it's difficult to kill someone with a knife (no, not from personal experience other than my new pandemic knife collecting hobby). But guns? Any schlub can pick up a gun and do all sorts of damage

We just finished A Shop for Killers and really enjoyed it. The amount of mayhem is excellent. Korean and Japanese shows, for me, blend action and humor really well. We just started House of Ninjas on Netflix. I have a list of foreign shows to watch but i have to be in the mood to read because most dubbing is atrocious.

Since we’re talking “stabbings” here’s one of my favorite knife scenes…

It’s from The Raid 2, it’s ridiculously over the top and unrealistic…

It’s also AWESOME!!!
