Really enjoyed this post. Thank you! I am a long time Clem Snide and Eef Baezely fan and agree, he's one of a kind. We saw him play a basement house show here in Madison, Wisconsin a few years ago and it was truly delightful. He passed through again a few months back and played a solo show at a small venue here in the neighborhood. I will see this man perform music anytime I get the chance. One of my favorite musicians. Thank you for sharing your song with us!
I've missed your writing. I loved "Ed" and remember the song from season 2. I'm now going to look up the rest of Clem Sinde and Eef's solo stuff. As always great stuff!!
I love him. I think he's kind of a pure soul. Troubled, but super talented. It just never seems to work out, despite so many great songs. But at least that 'Roger Ebert' song got a lot of attention. He deserves it. That song is, I think, magnificent in its simplicity. Just that he realized those final words, the sentiment, was special and touching and thought, "I think I'll make a song about that," says a lot about how he's different.
Thank you! You know, I talked a little bit about that book in the Welcome note -- I spent a couple of years getting the site ready and had all these plans...then started writing fiction and had zero interest in non-fiction. I think I did 5 essays, not all of them good. So, it's nice to go back and fix the past.
I love his voice and the way he approaches songs. I could have sworn he also did an amazing Elvis Costello cover, but I can't find it for the life of me at the moment.

Oh, and Elvis Costello: MY GUY. And “Ed.” And this lovely song. Thank you for all the great posts so far. So grateful.
Wow. What a treat. Love your writing always. And fine taste in great stuff!

What a lovely story. I so enjoy your writing. I look forward to that book, whenever it appears...

What a lovely gift to receive - very moving song. Your partner definitely won Christmas last year!
She did. I told her that if she dumps me and tries it again with, say, "Frank," now people will know.
Oh and, yeah, big ups for Ed! Remember when there was decent broadcast TV?

I would listen to that forever, given my affinity for Costello.
Big fan of Eef’s. Had the pleasure of attending several of his house concerts over the years. Unorthodox doesn’t do him justice; he’s one of a kind.
Always meant to solicit a song from him but never managed to pull the trigger.
You're so right about trying to explain what he's like. Unorthodox doesn't do him justice indeed
